What Is the Full Postseason Schedule?
The tournament begins in mid-May and spans approximately three weeks of high-intensity play across multiple rounds. Fans can expect a structured progression from the initial sixty-four team field down to the final two teams competing for the trophy.
The tournament structure is designed to narrow the field through a series of double-elimination and best-of-three formats. The opening Regionals feature four teams at sixteen different sites, while the Super Regionals pivot to a three-game series between two teams. This leads into the final eight teams gathering at a central location for the championship finale. See more on trackbarn.
How Does Team Selection Work?
Selection into the tournament depends on a combination of automatic qualifiers and at-large bids determined by the NCAA committee. Teams must exhibit strong performance throughout the regular season to earn their spot in the bracket on Selection Sunday.
The committee evaluates teams based on their win-loss records, strength of schedule, and performance against top-tier opponents. Thirty-two teams receive automatic bids by winning their respective conference tournaments. The remaining thirty-two spots are filled by the highest-ranked teams across the nation that did not win a conference title. See more on proplayerteam.
- Conference Tournament Champions: 32 Automatic Bids
- At-Large Selections: 32 Bids based on committee rankings
- National Seeds: Top 16 teams earn hosting rights for Regionals
- Top 8 Seeds: These teams host Super Regionals if they advance
